Our Biomass Sourcing policy
Our global approach to sourcing biomass responsibly is outlined in our Biomass Sourcing Policy. Central to this approach, is that biomass sourcing delivers against three core principles: to enable climate, nature and people positive outcomes. For example, we commit to sourcing biomass which maintains or enhances ecosystem productivity, functions and services.
Drax utilises independent third-party certification schemes, which in the US South includes SFI and FSC® among others, across all its US pellet plants. This is in addition to the Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) where all Drax operated pellet plants had a valid SBP Certificate and, in 2024, over 88.5% of the material supplied came with a SBP Compliant Claim.
