We are constantly innovating and developing further ways to enable a zero carbon, lower cost energy future.
For this we maintain a pipeline of projects across our business areas.
This page includes information and links to two types of project:
- Options for future development
- Currently being implemented
Power generation and system services
Bioenergy carbon capture use and storage (BECCS) and negative emissions
Drax Power Station turbine upgrades
Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) demolition
By 2027, we aim to expand our US operations to self-supply at least 80% of the renewable fuel needs of Drax Power Station and in so doing support our aim to reduce the cost of biomass from circa £75/MWh to circa £50/MWh.
Low-cost capacity at our existing three pellet plants of 0.35 million tonnes, announced at our half year results in 2019, will be implemented initially. Up to a further 0.5 million tonnes of capacity located at satellite plants co-located with sawmills is being explored.
B2B energy supply
Meeting our customers’ evolving needs and enabling them to provide system flexibility.
Digitisation of supply will provide us with a scalable, world-class data analytics capability and build upon the opportunity our on-schedule smart meter rollout creates to deliver targeted and tailored customer propositions.
