Explore a unique ecological setting, see over 100 species of wildlife in their natural environment, and learn about nature and conservation at Drax Power Station

The nature reserve is on Barlow Mound, a site where waste product that couldn’t be recycled from the power station was sent. The area has been reclaimed and transformed into an area of natural beauty.

We’re open to members of the public, and also offer experiences for school children to learn about nature and ecology as part of the national curriculum. The Skylark Centre, located on site, is equipped with classroom facilities to give students a full hands-on experience of the local environment.

Walk

As well as being the home to a large number of endangered and rare species of wildlife, the area is farmed and features a number of rest areas and nature walks. So get those walking boots out!
