Situated in Uddingston, near Glasgow, Daldowie Fuel Plant processes sludge from the whole of the Glasgow catchment are via two pipelines and also by a tanker. The plant converts it into dry, low-odour fuel pellets. The plant became part of Drax’s portfolio in January 2019.

Daldowie Fuel Plant can convert 1,000 tonnes of sludge into 23.5 tonnes of biomass pellets that can be used as a sustainable fuel source.

This also creates safe disposal for large volumes of sludge that might otherwise end up in disposal to land.
